Coming in 2011 – The 100 New Characters Challenge
on December 20, 2010 at 4:00 am(With all credit going to Tyler James for his inspiration…)
I had so much fun doing the 30 Characters Challenge this past November that I found it hard to stop (which is why I did 35 characters instead of 30).
And then, I gave the characters away.
So, I wanted to mix the two and see what kind of fun I could have if tried to create 100 total new characters for the Creative Commons. So here’s what I’m going to do:
Starting January 1, 2011 (or, rather, the first week of January, 2011), I’m going to create a new character every week that will be put into the creative commons for public consumption/creativity. I’m going to do this every week until November 1, when, if I’m not mistaken, the Third Annual 30 Characters Challenge will begin, and I will jump into that as well. The breakdown comes to:
- 35 – characters already created
- 43 – weeks until November 1/characters created a week
- 30 – days in November/characters created in the Third 30 Characters Challenge
That brings me to a total of 108 new characters created (I hope) by December 1, 2011!
A side-project that will accompany this will be the (hopefully) interactive nature of the project. What I mean is…I’m going to post these new characters every Monday, and open it up for artists to submit their versions/renditions of the characters and then on Friday, the one that gets the most attention/best reaction, will be posted up for the world to see.
So what do you say, everyone? Are you with me?
