Prisoner of None – Origins 11
Ah, Homerun Hercules. This one is interesting. Herc is the second character to be created for Prisoner of None, right after Fantomudoragon. Here, for the first time anywhere, is the very first piece of artwork created for PoN. You can also see some notes David made for some of the other characters:
From one of David’s early emails to me:
“I’m glad you like Homerun Hercules. I envisioned him as a follower and not a leader, he’s a designated hitter and not a pitcher (weird sports analogy from a generally non-sporty person).”
Interesting tidbit from one of our early emails: Fantomudoragon was almost called “Kyūkyoku no heishi” (which means Ultimate Soldier).
A lot of this comic is based on David’s vision. I approached him with the initial concept and he ran with it. As you can see with the above design. It’s pretty amazing, when you think about it. From a writer’s POV…and this is really a story about story crafting…you can have an idea in your head, but until you see the artwork, it’s not fully realized. I sometimes wonder what this would look like under a different pencil, but at the same time, I can’t imagine anyone but David doing it, you know?
Speaking of David, why don’t you seek him out and follow him?
Back on Friday with our FIFTH member of Liberty’s 7, which means…two weeks from the debut of the comic!
